Beautiful antique silver holy water font with the Virgin and Child
6,5 inches high by 3 inches wide (16,5cm by 7cm)
which was made by the reputed German silversmith Christoph Widmann of Pforzheim in the very early 1900's.
The top portion with a highly detailed representation of the crowned Virgin Mary holding the child Jesus, sitting on a throne with a scepter. Ornate holy water stoup with winged angel head and flowery decorations.
Hallmarked on the backing for silver "
800
" and with the letters "
CW
" for
Christoph Widmann
. Weight: 86 grams.
In excellent condition, with hanging hook.
